"Within the architecture, engineering, and construction industry, Gibbs sets the standard for professionalism and project quality. I have the utmost respect for the Lake Pines Hospital project team. The effort to bring this project to fruiting was genuinely collaborative and provided urgently needed behavioral health services to the community."
David Merlin, AIA, LEED-AP, One to One Design
The Lake Pines Hospital project was the build-out of an existing unfinished wing of St. Theresa Hospital. The building envelope was complete, but the interior was left unfinished when construction ceased during Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and was never resumed. Our scope of work included removing metal framing and gypsum board in limited locations, and providing new metal framing, mechanical, electrical, lighting and plumbing infrastructure, and finishes throughout.
The hospital provides inpatient behavioral health treatment service to adults and geriatric patients within Jefferson Parish and the New Orleans metropolitan area. It offers 18 patient rooms with 34 beds (two units have single beds, while the rest are double occupancy). There are two seclusion rooms with private restrooms.
There are patient activity areas for entertainment and leisure time, and there is also a large multipurpose room with nurse stations on each end.
