OUR PROJECTS

Slidell Memorial Hospital Heart Center

Healthcare

Since 1976, Gibbs Construction has been the team behind the buildings where we all work and play, grow up, grow smart, and grow old. We're the hardhats you've seen on almost every campus, on every corner. The group behind the Superdome re-skin. The Smoothie King Arena. The Audubon Institute's Cool Zoo. The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. We work to ensure that every project we touch truly becomes part of the neighborhoods we love.

Throughout this difficult and complex renovation, the Gibbs staff consistently kept the project on-time and budget, often while confronted with many existing conditions due to the multiple previous renovations in this portion of the building. It was a pleasure working with Gibbs Construction on this project and we look forward to the next opportunity to partner together again.

Gibbs Project View

The $2.6 million Slidell Memorial Hospital Heart Center project was an 11,000-square-foot interior build-out. The project added 12 postoperative patient recovery rooms, a CT scan, 2 echocardiograms, a nurses’ station and a waiting area.

The hospital was occupied and operational throughout construction. We coordinated systems, tie-ins, tests and certifications, and scheduled our work in conjunction with the hospital’s activities to maintain safety and the highest level of care to the patients. Gibbs often worked at off hours to keep our construction schedule while minimizing disruption to hospital operations.

Gibbs used extensive infection and dust control measures, and constructed a temporary, rated egress corridor through the construction area.  We worked above the temporary corridor to reroute med-gas, oxygen, water, vacuum, steam and waste lines.
