Ste. Marie restaurant anchors the mini strip of food establishments on the street level of 930 Poydras Apartments. As the general contractor for this high-rise, the continued relationship between Gibbs and the Owner led to this build-out opportunity with a leading local restaurant group.
Dark, hard surfaces, high ceilings and prominent accents of wood that look like repurposed storage pallets all evoke the reclaimed industrial spaces that have defined a class of nightclub and downtown restaurant design for more than a generation. Ste. Marie was not carved out of an old warehouse but, rather, built from the ground up.
Construction work included resurfacing, staining, and polishing concrete floors, fabricating custom carpentry, painting, wallcovering application, installation of specialty finishes, as well as, MEP systems, specialized food-service equipment, and a high tech audio-visual system.
Since the Ste. Marie Restaurant completion, Gibbs has grown this thriving downtown New Orleans corner into a rich entertainment and hospitality hub with the construction of Reginelli’s Pizzeria, Jamba Juice, Walk-On’s Bistreaux, The Roux House, Happy’s Irish Pub, the Civic Theatre, and the Civic Lofts.
